Commensurate with experience and education level, pursuant to WV Code §18A‑4‑2 and Upshur County Teacher Salary Schedule

Performance is evaluated by the building principal or immediate supervisor in accordance with WV State Code §18A‑2‑12, WV State Board Policy 5310, and UCBOE Policy 5010.

Provide appropriate instruction to middle and high school students and ensure that the students meet the learning objectives and standards for the appropriate grade level.

• Plan and implement the WV College and Career Readiness Standards and Objectives.
• Implement adopted and supplemental academic programs.
• Implement 21st Century Learning Skills and Technology Tools.
• Plan and implement collaborative models with special education students and teachers.
• Plan and implement designated co‑curricular activities and/or programs such as curricular fairs, awards programs and field trips.
• Design standards‑driven instruction and use a balanced assessment approach to guide student learning.
• Plan and implement support for personalized learning for all students to respond to the unique characteristics of learners.
• Maintain strong working/communication skills with students, parents and peers.
• Implement any other programs designated by the principal, central office and WVDE for school improvement.
• Establish and maintain a safe and appropriate learning environment.
• Fulfill and demonstrate professional growth in the West Virginia High Quality Standards and improvement in professional practice.
• Demonstrate an understanding of the professional teaching standards.
• Include supervisory and/or other duties as assigned by Principal.

Valid teaching certificate licensing the individual to teach in the specializations and grade levels, pursuant to WV Code §18A‑3‑2; criminal background check conducted pursuant to WV Code §18‑5‑15c and/or §18A‑3‑10, as appropriate; meet the qualifications outlined in WV Code §18A‑3‑2a.

The work environment is primarily indoors with outdoor settings for recess and field‑trip activities. Noise level is low to moderate (20‑60 dB). Exceptions include gymnasiums and vocational/technical laboratories where noise may be moderate to loud (60‑90 dB).
