Virtual Foreign Language Class Facilitator, Gilmer County High School (P26-501-6). Employment Term: 2026/27 school year, 200 day contract.

Position overview:
To oversee and support students enrolled in online foreign language courses.
- Maintain an environment conducive to learning.
- Ensure academic integrity.
- Troubleshoot basic technology issues.
- Guide students to stay on track with coursework.
- Monitor students in a physical lab or synchronous virtual room while engaging with the online foreign language platform, maintaining an orderly and respectful learning environment.
- Administer and proctor quizzes, exams, and speaking assessments according to school and platform protocols.
- Act as the first point of contact for student questions and provide ongoing support and encouragement.
- Assist with basic technology issues such as logging in, navigating modules, and troubleshooting audio/microphone setup.
- Monitor student engagement, attendance, and completion rates, and communicate progress to school administration, guidance counselors, and parents.
- Serve as liaison between students and external online language providers or certified remote teachers.
- Implement academic programs and may teach elective courses (Fine Arts and English).
- Plan and implement team‑teaching arrangements as appropriate.
- Plan and implement designated co‑curricular activities and programs such as curricular fairs and field trips.
- Collaborate with the Special Education Teacher to implement IEPs in lesson planning.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or lead teacher.
- Monitor student progress toward mastery of instructional goals and objectives.
- Adhere to the Employee Code of Conduct as outlined in Gilmer County School's Policy 3210.
- Report to:
Principal or Designee.
Must hold a WV Teaching Certification covering grade levels 6-12.
Must pass a Criminal Background check conducted pursuant to WV Code 18‑5‑15c and/or 18A‑3‑10, as appropriate.
- Excellent classroom management, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.
- Reliable and punctual, with high attention to detail regarding testing protocols.
- Basic proficiency or familiarity with a foreign language (e.g., Spanish, French, German) is a plus, though not required, as the curriculum is self‑contained or led by an outside instructor.
- Strong communication skills with students, parents, guardians, and peers.
- Manage student behavior in accordance with WV Board of Education Policy 4373.
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
- Strong digital literacy, including familiarity with Learning Management Systems and video conferencing tools such as Zoom and MS Teams.
Salary based on experience and education level per state salary schedule plus a competitive benefits package amounting to approximately 35% of direct compensation.
