FLSA STATUS: Full-time Exempt
SUPERVISOR: Building Principal
EVALUATION: Performance in this position will be evaluated by the building principal or immediate supervisor in accordance with WV State Code §18A-2-12 & §18A-3C-2; WV State Board Policy 5310, and Pocahontas County Schools Policy 3220
SALARY: Based on experience and education level per Pocahontas County Schools salary schedule. See pocahontascountysc for pay scales and benefits information.
JOB SUMMARY: Pursuant to WV Code §18A-1-1: "Classroom teacher": a professional educator who has a direct instructional or counseling relationship with students and who spends the majority of his or her time in this capacity.

Minimum Requirements:
Applicants who have recent unsatisfactory evaluations will not be considered eligible for consideration; applicants who demonstrate unsatisfactory interview performance are not eligible for consideration; and, applicants who receive unfavorable reference recommendations will not be eligible for consideration. - Additional Minimum Requirements for Applicants Not Currently Employed:
Applicants who have been dismissed or who have had their contracts non-renewed for cause by another school district are not eligible for consideration.

Planning how to evaluate student progress and designing assessments that align with learning goals; establishing clear expectations and criteria for success. - Understanding students:
Demonstrating knowledge of individual students, their interests, learning styles, and varied backgrounds to design differentiated instruction.

Building an environment of mutual respect and rapport with students to foster a positive and safe learning space. - Managing student behavior:
Establishing clear behavioral expectations and procedures to ensure a safe, orderly, and productive learning environment; promoting self-discipline and responding to misbehavior respectfully. - Organizing the classroom:
Arranging the physical space and organizing resources and supplies to maximize accessibility and support student learning.
