JOB SUMMARY
Provide high-quality, standards-based instruction across a range of general and special education settings, including but not limited to co-teaching, small group instruction, and individualized (1:1) support, to ensure students meet academic goals and grade-level expectations. Deliver both general and specially designed instruction to address diverse learning needs, collaborating with instructional staff to plan, differentiate, and implement effective, evidence-based practices. As required, assume special education responsibilities, including the development, implementation, and monitoring of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), ensuring compliance with all applicable federal and state laws while promoting inclusive practices and equitable access to the curriculum for all students.
DUTIES
AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Implement the West Virginia Schools of Diversion and Transition approved program of study, providing both general education and specially designed instruction in collaboration with co-teaching partners within an inclusive classroom environment.Deliver specialized instruction aligned to students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), ensuring accommodations, modifications, and instructional supports are implemented with fidelity.Foster a positive, structured classroom climate conducive to learning through collaborative teaching practices, shared responsibility for classroom management, and consistent expectations across co-teaching partners.Utilize a variety of evidence‑based instructional techniques and co‑teaching models (e.g., parallel teaching, station teaching, team teaching) to increase student engagement, access to curriculum, and academic achievement.Monitor and assess student progress toward mastery of instructional goals and IEP objectives; use data to collaboratively plan, differentiate instruction, and adjust interventions to meet individual student needs.Identify, adapt, and implement instructional materials and resources to address diverse learning styles, abilities, and social‑emotional needs within an inclusive and co‑taught setting.Develop, implement, and maintain compliant Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), including documentation, progress reporting, and adherence to all federal (IDEA) and state regulations.Manage assigned special education caseload(s), as needed, ensuring all timelines, service delivery requirements, and compliance expectations are met, while maintaining effective collaboration with general education teachers and related service providers.Collaborate regularly with co‑teachers, support staff, and related service providers to plan instruction, analyze student data, and ensure coordinated delivery of educational and behavioral supports.Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, IEP meetings, professional development, and collaborative planning sessions to support student success.Comply with host agency policies, procedures, and safety protocols, while supporting the integration of educational programming with treatment and behavioral goals.Work cooperatively with host agency staff to maintain a safe, structured, and supportive environment that promotes both academic and behavioral growth.Maintain and enhance professional competencies in both content instruction and special education practices, including co‑teaching methodologies and inclusive education strategies.Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or lead teacher.QUALIFICATIONS
