To provide a well‑organized, smoothly functioning class environment in which students can take full advantage of the instructional program and available resource materials. To implement behavioral and instructional programming as outlined by a BCBA; to assist staff with implementing behavior support plans and carrying over skills.
Qualifications- Registered Behavior Technician or specialized training in Applied Behavior Analysis, including Discrete Trial Teaching and Positive Behavior Support, and willingness to obtain RBT certification.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Passing score on the West Virginia aide classification competency test.
- Completion of a successful background check.
- Basic word‑processing skills preferred.
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
- Computer skills including competency in word processing, data management and spreadsheets.
- Experience and training in challenging behavior and crisis prevention intervention.
- Any combination of training and experience leading to successful employment as a countywide supervisory aide/paraprofessional/registered behavior technician.
- Medium‑heavy work capacity required.
- Must have transportation to travel between multiple locations during the school day.

- Adhere to all federal, state, and district laws and policies.
- Collect data and maintain documentation for behavioral and instructional programs.
- Assist staff with implementing individual plans for students.
- Work with individual students or small groups according to programming outlined and supervised by a BCBA and the IEP in the school or home setting.
- Help students master equipment or instructional materials assigned by the teacher.
- Operate and care for classroom and office equipment including electronics.
- Assist with lunch, snack, and cleanup routines.
- Assist with toileting and wash‑up routines of both male and female students, including catheterization and special needs as required.
- Assist with dressing and undressing of both male and female students.
- Maintain ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students.
- Prepare a variety of materials such as letters, student records, reports and memos.
- Remain calm and respond objectively to a variety of situations.
- Provide behavior management techniques in a crisis situation before resorting to passive restraint.
- Maintain physical attributes and training to passively restrain both male and female students over an extended period.
- Assist with maintaining a structured learning environment through appropriate organization of time, space, materials.
- Implement behavioral and instructional programming according to IEPs, programming plans, and Behavior Intervention plans prepared by a BCBA.
- Follow lesson plans for instructional, social, academic, and emotional skills.
- Assist with modifying curriculum materials.
- Assist teacher, other staff members or administration in working with students.
- Provide input into planning and scheduling.
- Participate in staff development training.
- Assist with maintaining accurate and efficient records.
- Be cognizant of special education characteristics.
- Provide a positive role model for students.
- Self‑evaluate personal and job‑related characteristics on a regular basis and take corrective action if needed.
- File records in prescribed manner.
- Keep prompt hours and maintain assigned schedule.
- Supervise the use of assistive devices such as crutches, canes, walkers, braces, wheelchairs, seat belts.
- Assist with emergency management, evacuation procedures, IEP services.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with teachers, administration, other staff members and students.
- Maintain complete and accurate records.
- Attend first aid classes as required to maintain certification.
- Maintain and/or upgrade skills and positive work habits.
- Perform duties efficiently and productively.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal, Immediate Supervisor, Assistant Superintendent or Superintendent.
