Aide / Early Childhood Classroom Assistant Teacher (ECCAT)

Sand Hill Elementary, Marshall County Schools

Normal contract: 200 days, typically eight hours per day, with flexibility for bus run or student needs. Anticipated start date:
August 13, 2026.

June 11-17, 2026 (3 pm).

• Assist the teacher with classroom instruction, classroom management, and socialization activities.
• Assist with basic living skills and toileting needs for students.
• Ride the bus and assist children with boarding and disembarking, including physically handicapped children as needed.
• Assist in the administration of emergency first aid and lift physically handicapped children.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Must complete Early Childhood WVDE approved coursework for ECCAT authorization.
• Must complete state‑mandated training in science of reading and numeracy instruction.
• Must have ECCAT certification (temporary initially, progressing to permanent).
• Must pass initial/yearly bus training.
• Demonstrate competency in reading, writing, spelling, and mathematics.
• Demonstrate verbal and written communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
• Demonstrate ability to manage young children using behavioral management techniques.
• Working knowledge of first aid.
• Ability to lift and assist children weighing 50–150 pounds.

Salary based on experience and education level per MCS BOE salary schedule. Competitive benefits package approximately 35% of direct compensation. Pay grade E-1.
