Position: 27-080 GRADE TWO TEACHER

Position

Grade Two Teacher at Fountain Primary School, Mineral County Schools

Job Summary

Prepare and deliver appropriate instruction to students to meet learning objectives and standards for Grade Two.

Salary & Employment Term

Salary: $46,050 - $74,597 (based on 200 days). Employment term:
Minimum 200 days annually; position is exempt.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement lesson plans in accordance with WV College and Career Readiness, district curriculum, and state standards.
  • Use 21st‑Century technology to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Deliver rigorous instruction to all students.
  • Prepare lessons that accommodate diverse learning styles.
  • Present subject matter following WVDE guidelines and district policies.
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional strategies, materials, and equipment.
  • Assess student learning and use results to support school‑wide academic goals.
  • Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula for IEP students.
  • Determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods with staff.
  • Supervise teacher aides and volunteers.
  • Help students improve study methods and habits.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment through formative and summative testing.
  • Assume responsibility for assigned extracurricular activities; sponsor and implement co‑curricular programs.
  • Maintain a positive role model and supportive classroom environment.
  • Enforce behavior standards per WV Board of Education Policy 4373.
  • Communicate with parents, students, and staff through conferences and written reports.
  • Participate in staff development and professional learning communities.
  • Comply with state, district, and school regulations and maintain required documentation.
  • Attend faculty meetings and serve on committees as required.
  • Adhere to the Employee Code of Conduct (Policy 3210).
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Superintendent or supervisor.
Qualifications
  • Valid teaching certificate for Grade Two (Early Childhood K-4, Elementary Education K-6, or Multi‑Subjects K-8).
  • Completed criminal background check per WV Code §18‑5‑15c and §18‑A‑3‑10.
  • Meet other qualifications per WV Code §18‑A‑3‑2a.
Physical Demands

The role requires frequent reaching, standing, walking, lifting, grasping, writing, talking, hearing, seeing, and using technology, including computers and multimedia equipment. The employee may frequently lift or move at least 10 pounds of materials.

Work Environment

The position is primarily indoors with a low to moderate noise level (20‑60 dB). The environment is educational and involves interaction with students and staff.
