- Employment Term: Minimum 200 days annually, pursuant to WV Code §18-5-45; extended employment days may be established by HCBOE
- Salary: Pursuant to WV Code §18A-4-2, commensurate with experience and education level plus a competitive benefits package equal to approximately 35% of direct compensation.
- Evaluation: Performance evaluated by the building principal/immediate supervisor in accordance with WV State Code §18A-2-12, WV State Board Policy 5310, and HCBOE Evaluation Policy.
Provide appropriate instruction to students and ensure students meet learning objectives and standards for the appropriate grade level/subject area.
Performance Responsibilities- Plan and implement WV academic standards, content, and objectives.
- Implement adopted and supplemental academic programs.
- Implement technology skills.
- Plan and implement inclusion with special education students.
- Ensure student achievement.
- Plan and implement co‑teaching as appropriate.
- Analyze data and plan academic support.
- Collaborate with other professional staff to enhance instruction.
- Plan and implement designated co‑curricular activities and/or programs at the school such as curricular fairs, awards programs, and field trips.
- Administer formative assessments.
- Plan and implement personalized learning.
- Communicate with students, parents, and peers efficiently.
- Foster a classroom climate conducive to learning.
- Address and implement students’ IEPs and 504 Plans and recommend revisions when needed.
- Meet professional responsibilities.
- Maintain professional work habits and adhere to the Teacher Code of Conduct.
- Implement any other programs designated by principal for school improvement.
- Include supervisory and/or other duties as assigned by Principal.
Valid teaching certificate licensing the individual to teach in the specializations and grade levels, pursuant to WV Code §18A-3-2; criminal background check conducted pursuant to WV Code §18-5-15c and/or §18A-3-10, as appropriate; and meet the qualifications outlined in WV Code §18A-3-2a. Physical DemandsThe employee frequently requires reaching, standing, walking, lifting, grasping, writing, talking, hearing, seeing, using technology such as computers and multimedia equipment, and repetitive motions. The employee may frequently lift and/or move at least 10 pounds of materials. Specific vision abilities include close vision to read handwritten or typed material, and ability to adjust focus.
Work EnvironmentThe work environment is primarily indoors, with occasional outdoor settings for recess and field trips. Noise level is low to moderate (20–60 dB), except in gymnasiums and vocational/technical laboratories where it may be moderate to loud (60–90 dB).
Additional PoliciesThe employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non‑prescribed drugs while in the workplace. Alcohol and controlled substances that affect employee productivity, safety, or judgment will not be tolerated.
