Assistant Professor (tenure-track) faculty position in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine at West Virginia University School of Medicine, Morgantown, WV.
The West Virginia University Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine seeks to fill two tenure-track positions at the Assistant Professor rank. Candidates with innovative research programs focused on the fundamental mechanisms underlying human disease are particularly sought.
Facilities and Resources:
The department offers a collaborative, multifaceted academic environment with active research in Sensory and Vision Science;
Structural, Cell, and RNA Biology;
Cellular Metabolism; and Age-Related Diseases.
Faculty are backed by substantial salary support. The department maintains a highly regarded faculty mentoring program to help advance the careers of junior faculty. Successful candidates may be eligible to participate in an NIH‑funded mentored career development program at WVU and may apply for funding from the Visual Sciences Center of Biomedical Research Excellence ((Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).).
Responsibilities- Develop and maintain an extramurally funded research program.
- Participate in departmental teaching at the undergraduate, graduate, or professional levels.
Minimum qualifications include a terminal degree in the biomedical or related fields, at least one year’s postdoctoral experience in a related field, and high-quality publications. A candidate with a PhD in another field will be considered provided they have two years of postdoctoral training in the biomedical or biological sciences and have demonstrated successful contributions to biomedical research.
