FLSA STATUS: Exempt
CONTRACT: 200-day contract

Certification/Qualifications- Valid teaching certificate licensing the individual to teach in the specializations and grade levels pursuant to WV Code §18A‑3‑2.
- Criminal background check conducted pursuant to WV Code §18‑5‑15c and/or §18A‑3‑10, as appropriate. A classroom teacher is a professional educator who has a direct instructional or counseling relationship with students and spends the majority of the instructional day in that role. The employee must remain free of alcohol or non‑prescribed drugs while in the workplace. Staff members serve as role models for students in behavior, citizenship, and intellect and are expected to maintain a positive, respectful, and professional demeanor.
PerformanceResponsibilities
- Develops and implements lesson plans that fulfill WV Content Standards, district curriculum, and requires written evidence of preparation.
- Uses 21st‑Century Technology skills to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
- Delivers rigorous instruction to all students.
- Instills ethical principles and democratic values in students.
- Prepares lessons that accommodate differences in student learning styles.
- Presents subject matter according to WVDE guidelines and board policies.
- Plans and uses appropriate instructional strategies, activities, materials, and equipment reflecting student needs.
- Conducts assessment of student learning styles and uses results to support school‑wide goals.
- Works cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students per IEP guidelines.
- Works with staff to determine instructional goals and methods.
- Plans and supervises teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s).
- Helps students analyze and improve study methods.
- Conducts ongoing assessment of achievement through formative and summative testing.
- Assumes responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned; sponsors, plans, and implements co‑curricular activities.
- Maintains a positive role model for students.
- Supports the mission of the school district.
- Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for physical, social, and emotional development.
