Term of employment: Starting with the school year; 220-day annual contract

Job DescriptionThe school principal is the chief administrator responsible for the operations, management, and leadership of the school, overseeing staff, curriculum, and student well‑being to ensure a positive and effective learning environment. Key duties include managing resources, evaluating teachers, counseling students, developing school‑wide goals, and maintaining communication with teachers, students, parents, and the community.
Qualifications- WV Professional Administrative Certificate with Endorsement as Principal
- Master's Degree or above in education, with emphasis on leadership/administration
- Principal/Administrative experience preferred, and preferably at the Elementary level
- Successful experience as a teacher, preferably at the Elementary level
- Successful completion of the WV Evaluation Leadership Institute or ability to complete upon hire
- Knowledge of the WV Standards for High Quality Schools (WV Code §18A-2-9)
- Knowledge of the school accreditation process (WV Code §18A-2-9)
- Knowledge of strategic planning for continuing improvement (WV Code §18A-2-9)
- Knowledge of Support for Personalized Learning (SPL), Special Education, MTSS and other instructional frameworks that support student success
- Knowledge of best practices relative to elementary curricula and instruction/school improvement
- Knowledge of Early Childhood Programs (PK/K)
- Knowledge/skills to utilize WVEIS 2.0
- Knowledge of current student discipline and attendance requirements
- Knowledge of student enrollment procedures; school scheduling; substitute management processes
- Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent

- Continuous improvement strategies – The school leader ensures continuous improvement through the implementation of focused instructional leadership, data‑driven decision making, collaboration among stakeholders, and a positive learning environment.
- Operational Efficiency to Promote Learning – The school leader effectively and efficiently manages school resources including the use and implementation of technology, and the financial oversight of all school‑related programs.
- Knowledge of laws, policies and regulations – The school leader shall know, understand, and observe all laws, policies, and regulations in maintaining a safe, supportive learning environment.
- Family and Community Connections – The school leader effectively communicates and creates partnerships to engage students, staff, families, and the community.
