SALARY: $88,193 – $95,193 plus competitive benefits package (WVDE Summary of Benefits) equal to approximately 35% of direct compensation

Job SummaryThis position plays a key leadership role in advancing Career and Technical Education (CTE) across West Virginia by driving program quality, alignment, and innovation. The individual will lead strategic efforts to develop and improve programs of study, expand career pathways, and ensure alignment with workforce demands through data‑informed decision‑making and cross‑sector collaboration. Working closely with educators, administrators, and industry and higher education partners, this role also serves as a facilitator and presenter of high‑quality professional learning, supporting the implementation of effective CTE programs that prepare students for successful transitions to postsecondary education and the workforce.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Lead the development and continuous improvement of assigned coursework, programs of study, industry certifications, and technical assessments aligned with evolving workforce demands and labor market trends.
- Drive data‑informed decision‑making by analyzing statewide CTE performance, evaluating program outcomes, and identifying trends that inform strategic expansion and improvement efforts.
- Conduct onsite and remote program reviews to ensure compliance with WVDE guidelines while advancing program quality and innovation.
- Evaluate CTE program effectiveness and provide strategic, actionable recommendations to strengthen instruction, student credential attainment, and overall program impact.
- Design and implement a comprehensive, statewide professional development strategy in collaboration with administrators and instructors, incorporating a multi‑tiered system of support responsive to educator and program needs.
- Serve as a key resource to CTE instructors and administrators by providing expert guidance, coaching, and technical assistance to support the integration of standards, initiatives, and student organizations.
- Lead communication and project coordination with local school districts, including issue resolution, technical support, and contribution to policy development that advances WVDE priorities.
- Collaborate across internal teams to align initiatives, timelines, and deliverables with agency goals and statewide priorities.
- Build and sustain partnerships with higher education institutions, state and district leaders, and community organizations to expand and strengthen career pathways that support seamless student transitions to postsecondary education and the workforce.
- Perform other assignments as deemed appropriate and necessary by the State Board of Education, Associate/Assistant Superintendent, and the State Superintendent of Schools.
- Master's degree in education or related field.
- Must hold a professional administrative certificate.
- Experience as a school administrator or academic leader required.
This position is classified as sedentary work, involving prolonged sitting (6‑8 hours daily) at a desk or computer workstation. Occasional demands include standing or walking short distances within the office and lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds. This role requires close visual acuity for reading documents and computer screens, clear speaking/hearing for communication, and repetitive wrist/hand motions.
