To employ leadership and administrative skills to effectively carry out assigned duties that assist the principal in promoting the education development of each student and the professional development of each staff member.
QualificationsThe successful applicant for this position shall have:
- A valid West Virginia Principal's Certificate PK-Adult.
- Successful administrative experience preferred.
- Knowledge of high school curriculum.
- Ability to analyze assessment data; and other test data to improve learning for all students.
- Knowledge/understanding of state initiatives: 21st Century Skills, Teach 21, SPI, West Virginia Next Generation Content Standards, and Objectives, Standards Based Instruction, and Professional Learning Communities.
- Demonstrate a working knowledge and understanding of the needs, laws, and procedure regarding the West Virginia Expected Behavior in Safe and Supportive Schools Policy and the education and discipline of students.
- Ability to effectively manage a program of student behavior.
- Knowledge of Effective Schools/Teaching Research as it applies to the management of a school.
- Ability to use technology for administrative and instructional purposes.
- Demonstrate a working ability to utilize current technology including but not limited to WVEIS.
- Knowledge/experience assessing the needs of a school, evaluating the effectiveness of school practices, developing school improvement plans, setting goals, establishing procedures to manage day-to-day decisions, and utilizing site-based management.
- Knowledge of County Mission and Five-Year Strategic Plan.
- Ability to write and implement the school's Strategic Plan.
- Knowledge/experience preparing a school schedule.
- Knowledge/experience preparing and utilizing interdisciplinary scheduling.
- Knowledge/experience holding staff meetings, assigning staff responsibilities, analyzing school personnel needs, and arranging for staff development.
- Ability to provide effective instructional leadership for school improvement councils, faculty senates, and curriculum teams.
- The ability to demonstrate and use Smart Find Express.
- Knowledge/experience preparing, allocating and managing a school budget, student activities budget, and quasi-public funds.
- Developing effective working relationships among administration, teachers, students, parents, and the community.
- An outstanding attendance record in current position.
- Ability to write clearly and concisely using correct grammar and spelling.
- Demonstrate successful completion of writing exercise and interview process.
- Any combination of training and experience which would lead to successful employment as an Assistant Principal.
