Position Description

West Virginia Academy is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Secondary Math Professor to inspire scholars in grades 7 through 12 and foster a deep understanding of mathematics. The ideal candidate is committed to academic excellence, believes all scholars can succeed, and creates a structured, engaging classroom environment where scholars are challenged to think critically, solve problems, and develop confidence in their mathematical abilities.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver standards‑aligned instruction that promotes conceptual understanding, mathematical reasoning, and real‑world application of mathematical concepts.
  • Use a variety of instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs, differentiate instruction as needed, and use assessment data to monitor progress and inform instructional decisions.
  • Establish and maintain a positive, orderly classroom environment that supports learning and reflects West Virginia Academy's expectations for scholar behavior, including the implementation of the CHAMPS framework.
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding scholar progress, academic performance, and classroom expectations.
  • Collaborate closely with fellow professors and administrators to ensure scholars receive the support necessary to achieve academic success.
  • Actively participate in professional development, faculty meetings, school events, and other professional responsibilities that contribute to the mission and vision of West Virginia Academy.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of secondary mathematics content.
  • Effective classroom management skills.
  • Excellent communication abilities.
  • Commitment to maintaining high expectations for all scholars.
