HANCOCK COUNTY SCHOOLS, NEW CUMBERLAND, WEST VIRGINIA

The following position is for the 2026 Summer School Program. All positions are contingent upon enrollment.

Dates:
August 3-14, 2026. Staff Hours 8:00–11:30 am. Student Hours 8:30–11:00 am. Mandatory preparation meeting on July 30, 2026 9:00–10:00 am on Teams.

Seniority is based on teaching summer school experience only.

Must hold a current WVDE Teaching Certification in Elementary Education.

Elementary/Secondary Teacher / Classroom Teacher

School Principal

In accordance with the Hancock County Schools salary schedule for professionals, commensurate with experience and degree level.

Performance is evaluated annually by the Superintendent or her designee in accordance with WV State Code §1 SA-2-12, State Board Policy 5310.

• Provide the attention needed to each student to achieve the highest possible potential.
• Record achievement under policy set forth by school administration, and report fairly and accurately.
• Act professionally in dealings with superiors, co-workers, parents, and students.
• Report all required information to the immediate supervisor.
• Assist with general supervision of hall duty, bus duty, lunch duty, and other supervisory related job necessary for the operation of the school.
• Perform any other duties determined necessary by the principal.
• Implement the teaching program of study.
• Foster a classroom climate conducive to learning.
• Utilize instructional management systems that increase student learning and maximize time on task.
• Monitor and report student progress toward learning outcomes.
• Maintain and upgrade professional skills and teaching techniques.
• Promote positive pupil‑teacher‑parent relationships.
• Maintain professional work habits, attitudes, and appearance.
• Incorporate differentiated instruction.
• Co‑teach when applicable.
• Implement Multi‑Tiered System of Support (MTSS) within the school/classroom.
• Integrate technology within the school/classroom.

• Hold a valid West Virginia education teaching certificate for the position.
