Position: Librarian (Part-Time Faculty Pool) Fresno City College at West Fresno Center

Overview

Fresno City College is seeking a Librarian for the Part‑Time Faculty Pool that will provide technical, reference and instructional services to students and faculty at the West Fresno Campus.

Responsibilities
  • Providing on demand reference and extended research services to students;
  • Conducting bibliographic instruction for students in a classroom environment;
  • Collaborating with faculty to increase awareness of library resources to students, including developing Library Guides and Open Educational Resources (OER) materials;
  • Promoting library resources to faculty, students, and campus groups;
  • Collaborating with other librarians to establish library policies and procedures, and the development of budget proposals;
  • Collaborating with other librarians on the development, purchasing, and maintenance of library collections;
  • Planning and implementing the college’s information competency goals;
  • Collaborating with other librarians to design and teach library research skills, library technology courses, workshops and online tutorials;
  • Utilizing Canvas and other online platforms to teach and communicate with students;
  • Providing services in a variety of settings and times, including evening and/or weekends, online or off‑campus;
  • Communicating effectively with students and staff and maintaining effective working relationships;
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students;
  • A Master’s in library science, library and information science; or
  • A valid California Community College Credential; or
  • The equivalent education and/or experience (equivalency required).
  • If the degrees posted on transcripts do not match exactly as stated above, the applicant must petition for equivalency.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience and skill incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion into all areas of responsibility;
  • Recent experience working with racially minoritized students in the classroom and an understanding of how historical exclusion impacts participation and outcomes;
  • Willingness to examine and remediate instructional, relational, and classroom practices to better engage racially minoritized students;
  • Related work and professional experience;
  • Experience working with students of various cultural, gender, age, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds, including students with disabilities;
  • Demonstrated ability to work with computers and other technologies utilized in high‑quality instruction and support;
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students and staff;
  • Knowledge of the community college mission and goals.

  • Newly hired part‑time faculty placed on step one (1) of the Part‑Time Faculty Salary Schedule;
  • Salary classification placements based on education and experience as outlined in the Part‑Time Faculty Salary Classifications;
  • Sick leave accrual based on assignment hours.
