Job Goal

Increase student mastery in Reading and Math.

Qualifications
  • Elementary Education K-6 or Multi-Subject K-8, Reading Specialist/Math Certification Preferred.
  • Valid West Virginia Teaching Certificate with an endorsement in the area of Reading for Early Childhood.
  • Experience teaching Reading preferred.
  • Any combination of training and experience that would lead to successful employment as a Title I Interventionist.
  • Successful completion of the interview which includes the preparation and presentation of a lesson on a given topic.
Essential Functions of the Position
  • Provide professional support to the Title I program for reading/math improvement especially in diagnostic-prescriptive individualized planning for participating students; technical advice and assistance to teachers and parents; and selection, distribution and management of appropriate educational materials in cooperation with teachers and parents to demonstrate improvement in Reading/Math.
  • Participate in the creation of Title I School wide Five Year Online Strategic Plan application for the school and maintain program fidelity.
  • Plan instruction in cooperation with the classroom teacher and tutors, maximizing in-class time and minimizing pull-out time and assist with support for Personalized Learning.
  • Evaluate the progress of students on a regular basis and report the results to the classroom teacher and parents using all focus of formative assessments.
  • Plan parent involvement activities for parents to participate in the teaching and learning of their children.
  • Plan and implement a program of study that includes extended time before and after school and during the summer to meet the individual needs, interests and abilities of the students under reasonable terms.
  • Make provisions for being available to students and parents for education related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested under reasonable terms.
  • Attend all Title I meetings and mandatory workshops.
  • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
  • Prepare for instruction and show written evidence of preparation upon request of the principal.
  • Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  • Guide the learning process toward achievement of curriculum goals. In harmony with the goals, establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate these objectives to students.
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional technology, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individual or student groups involved.
