Associate Geoscientist 2

Weston is seeking an Associate Geoscientist 2 to support environmental investigation, remediation, and emergency response projects. The successful candidate will have a strong desire to make a difference in our communities by doing work that helps protect public health and the environment. This role builds upon foundational experience and is ideal for individuals ready to take on increased responsibility in field execution, data analysis, and project coordination.

Responsibilities
  • Perform field assignments including field documentation, sampling, and site investigation activities, with the ability to execute routine work with limited supervision.
  • Support environmental investigations and remediation projects at hazardous waste sites, including collection of soil, groundwater, surface water, air, and waste samples.
  • Conduct field screening, operate and maintain sampling and monitoring equipment, and coordinate shipment of samples to laboratories.
  • Document field activities and prepare clear, accurate field logs, daily reports, and supporting documentation for clients.
  • Apply appropriate field investigation procedures including selection of sampling locations, methods, and equipment, incorporating applicable standards and regulatory requirements into deliverables.
  • Assist with installation of monitoring wells and provide lithologic descriptions during drilling and subsurface activities.
  • Compile, organize, and evaluate field and laboratory data, supporting preparation of technical reports, tables, figures, and other deliverables with reduced oversight.
  • Perform work at active and potentially hazardous sites using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) (Levels D–A as required).
  • Travel may be required, including extended field assignments or short-notice mobilization to support project and emergency response activities.
  • Participate in on-call emergency response rotations, maintaining readiness for mobilization and supporting response efforts for environmental incidents such as chemical and oil spills.
  • Lead routine field tasks such as groundwater monitoring events, basic oversight activities, and coordination of field teams, with EHS concurrence.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance, including effort, timeliness, and quality of work, and document and report any variations to project leadership.
  • Identify and communicate project-related issues, including delays, irregularities, and potential risks, to senior project staff.
  • Coordinate laboratory analysis in alignment with project data quality objectives under guidance of senior staff.
  • Conduct literature reviews, evaluate technical information, and contribute to data interpretation and reporting.
  • Maintain organized and auditable project documentation, files, and correspondence.
  • Execute all work in accordance with project specifications, standard operating procedures, and Weston safety requirements.
  • Demonstrate accountability for personal and team safety, including participation in site safety activities and adherence to Stop Work Authority.
  • Communicate effectively with project teams and stakeholders, demonstrating awareness of client needs and project objectives.
  • Respond to routine and moderately complex internal and external inquiries in a professional manner.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geoscience or related field with 2–4 years of experience.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting environmental field investigations, sampling, and remediation projects.
  • Ability to perform field tasks with increasing independence and sound technical judgment.
  • Demonstrated technical competence in environmental data collection and interpretation.
  • Experience using field sampling instrumentation, monitoring equipment, and PPE in hazardous environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and execute assigned tasks with limited direction.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with team members, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to support technical documentation and reporting.
