AVP, Associate Commercial Banker

The Associate Commercial Banker plays a pivotal role in supporting the Bank's relationship management efforts by actively supporting the commercial lending team in the development and expansion of client portfolios. This position is responsible for delivering exceptional service, proactively identifying client needs, and promoting a comprehensive suite of Bank products and services to drive client satisfaction, loyalty, and revenue growth.

The Associate Commercial Banker will:

  • Service, manage, and grow a portfolio of loan and deposit clients.
  • Support the Regional President's efforts to enhance the Bank's brand by attending key community events and supporting all Bank-sponsored events in the assigned market area.
  • Ensure the asset quality of the portfolio by collecting and reviewing financial statements timely as per the terms of the loan agreement with the borrower.
  • Partner with Credit to accurately risk rate borrowers "in the moment," develop and communicate an exposure strategy to keep the borrower apprised of the Bank's risk appetite, and support the timely completion of annual reviews to avoid administrative downgrades.
  • Assist the commercial lending team with efforts to achieve the objectives and key results (OKRs) of the team, division, and Bank.
  • Prepare Pre-Flight/Pre-Screen underwriting to assist the Banker in driving the loan sales process.
  • Memorialize activities in the Bank's customer relationship management (CRM) system, including at least one annual relationship review per year per client.
  • Provide strategic support to revenue-generating team members by facilitating new client acquisition efforts and contributing to the growth and profitability of the existing portfolio.
  • Develop a prospect and centers of influence (COI) list for preparation to transition into a revenue-producing role.
  • Maintain alignment with the Bank's identity, mission, values, and communication practices.
  • Support commercial bankers, senior bankers, and management.
  • Develop skills and understanding to be an integral part of the First Line of Defense with respect to identifying, mitigating, and managing reputational, operational, credit, and other risks throughout the Bank.
  • Service existing clients with loan, deposit, and treasury needs.
  • Assist with loan portfolio management, including financial statement collection; reviewing and analyzing interim financial statements and industry and economic trends; identifying emerging risks; developing risk ratings and loan pricing scenarios; and scheduling calls to review future needs of a business client.
  • Actively engage in deal management and pipeline conversion by engaging with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in Credit committee presentations.
  • Joint call with senior bankers and observe proper call preparation techniques, consultative sales and service meetings, and client follow-up routines.
  • Stay connected to the market by attending community events to help build the Bank's brand in a positive manner, e.g., chambers of commerce, Industry affiliations, etc.
  • Establish and cultivate an external network of COIs and potential referral sources as a means of self-generating new business.
  • Drive revenue by meeting sales goals and objectives.
  • Embrace a culture of relationship banking and leading with insights.
  • Embrace a disciplined sales process and cold calling routine.
  • Expand non-interest income through, including but not limited to, enhanced treasury products and fee revenue generation.
  • Serve as a leader embracing change to develop skills necessary for a leadership role.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiencies and risk mitigation.
  • Comply with government, regulatory, and Bank policies and procedures.

Other duties may be assigned, in support of departmental goals and organizational priorities.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in finance, business, economics, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in banking, financial services, or client-facing roles required.
