Seeking an experienced Stepdown/Intermediate Care RN for a 30-bed IMU within an acute care hospital setting.
This is a higher-acuity progressive care unit requiring strong cardiac rhythm interpretation and titratable drip experience. Candidates must be comfortable working both day and night rotations.
Unit Details- 30 beds (14 private, 16 semi-private)
- Nurse-to-patient ratio goal: 1:4
- Typically 1:5
- Occasionally 1:6

Allscripts - Telemetry:
Nihon Kohden monitors- Monitor techs present, but RNs must read and interpret their own strips
- RT, Pharmacy, IV Team, and Hospitalist available 24/7
- Manage chest pain, r/o MI, CHF, arrhythmias, and post-pacer patients
- Care for pre/post cardiac cath patients (radial band management; no sheath pulling)
- Perform groin checks and manage intermediate acuity overflow
- Manage Tikosyn therapy patients
- Titrate cardiac drips including:
- Amiodarone
- Cardizem
- Dopamine
- Dobutamine
- Labetalol
- Nitro
- Heparin
- Occasional Lasix
- Float to Telemetry or Med Surg as needed (ratios up to 1:6–1:7 in Med Surg, not common)
- Maintain strict attendance standards
- Active RN license
- BLS (AHA)
- ACLS
- NIHSS
- Strong Stepdown/PCU experience
- Must independently interpret telemetry rhythms
- Must be comfortable titrating multiple cardiac drips
- Must reside 50+ miles from facility
- Copy of unexpired driver’s license required at submission
- Licensing hits must be disclosed at submission
- No artificial nails permitted
- 12-hour rotating shifts (Days/Nights)
- 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM / 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Must be ready on unit by 6:45
- Weekend requirement:
- 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
- Fri/Sat/Sun considered weekend
- Day shift nurses must also work a minimum of 3 night shifts per 4-week schedule
- Holiday flexibility required
- 36 hours guaranteed weekly
- Charge nurses take a full assignment on both day and night shifts
- CNA support typically 2–3 aides (1:10–12 ratio)
- IV Team handles all IV starts
- Navy blue scrubs required (no hoodies)
- Strict attendance policy — 2 occurrences (tardy/call-off) may result in termination
- Cancellation: 2 shifts per 13-week contract
50-mile radius rule applies (no locals).
Strong cardiac Stepdown experience required — not appropriate for basic Telemetry-only background.
Driver’s license copy required at submission.
