Acts as liaison in the EMS community by coordinating and supervising all EMS related educational programs for pre‑hospital providers. Actively involved in the delivery of professional EMS outreach, pre‑hospital run report quality assurance, protocol and policy development, and trauma development. Manages all fleet vehicles, maintenance, accidents and investigations. Works with quality/population health on community outreach. Responsible for building relationships with community influencers and "gatekeepers" to venues where WVU medicine can prospect and be a part of the solution to change at risk behaviors in the population.
Minimum Qualifications- Associate degree
- Three (3) years of emergency medical services experience
- Completion of one of the following programs:
- Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Program
- Paramedic Program
- Registered Nurse Program
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
- Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s degree in emergency medical technology, nursing, business or related field.
- Assists in the provision of optimal transportation services to patients being transferred to or from assigned hospitals.
- Establishes verbal communication links and relays verbal communications to all appropriate patient care representatives.
- Maintains all forms and documentation applicable for the position.
- Accurately enters data and properly maintains the database utilized for the position.
- Assists in the management of base operations.
- Vehicle acquisition:
Negotiating pricing and demands with manufacturers. Consideration of the vehicle’s job and the load it must carry are required in forecasting and planning fleet purchases. - Designing and managing maintenance programs:
Set preventive maintenance policies based on vehicle type, vocation and geography as it impacts driver safety, saves repair costs, and optimizes resale value. - Leading safety programs:
When an incident occurs, potential negligence and brand damage come with staggering costs to organizations. The incumbent will work to minimize these risks.
- Ability to lift, push, pull and transfer boxes and/or equipment up to fifty pounds.
- Ability to twist upper body while moving boxes and/or equipment.
- Ability to stand, walk, climb, balance, reach, stoop, bend and crouch for extended time periods.
- Ability to smell and identify odors.
- Ability to use close, distant and peripheral vision, depth perception, and visual focus.
- Ability to clearly hear and interpret voice and telephone communication.
- Hospital or office environment.
- Limited exposure to electrical and mechanical hazards may exist in these areas.
- Within the hospital environment, the Transport Coordinator may encounter patients with communicable diseases.
- Will encounter ambulances and other emergency vehicles and in doing so must expect exposure to electrical, mechanical and noise related hazards.
- May be required to work long hours.
