Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Director of Pharmacy experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A hospital in Huntington, West Virginia is seeking an Interim Director of Pharmacy and Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) to lead the pharmacy department during the current Director of Pharmacy's retirement transition. This role offers an excellent chance to step into a leadership position in a 165-licensed bed facility with a daily census averaging 130 patients, specializing in behavioral health.

The pharmacy team includes one full-time pharmacist, four per diem pharmacists, and 2.6 full-time equivalent pharmacy technicians, supported by tech staff responsible for order filling, delivery, and inventory management. The site uses an order entry system called HCS and Omnicell automation, with training provided. Candidates must hold an active West Virginia pharmacist license. Hospital and Omnicell experience are highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee all pharmacy operations daily as the PIC and Interim Director of Pharmacy
• Provide staffing and administrative management to ensure uninterrupted pharmacy services
• Act as on-call pharmacist after shifts and on weekends, with coverage hours Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m.

• Lead and mentor pharmacy staff with guidance and onsite training from the retiring Director of Pharmacy
• Maintain compliance with pharmacy regulations and hospital policies
• Support the behavioral health specialty pharmacy services

Qualifications:

• Current West Virginia pharmacist licensure is required
• Prior hospital pharmacy management and Omnicell automation experience preferred
• Demonstrated ability to manage staff and pharmacy operations effectively
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Flexibility to be on-call during evenings and weekends

Schedule:

• Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m.

• On-call after shifts and weekends

This is a contract opportunity beginning August 31, 2026, lasting until a permanent Director of Pharmacy is hired. The facility maintains a business casual dress code. Onsite training and support will be provided to ensure a seamless transition.
