Laboratory Director

Laboratory Director – Wheeling, West Virginia Our client in Wheeling West Virginia is seeking an experienced Laboratory Director to lead and oversee laboratory operations. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring high-quality laboratory services, maintaining quality and regulatory standards, managing departmental operations, and supporting the development and performance of laboratory staff. The Laboratory Director will collaborate with pathologists, hospital leadership, and healthcare professionals while overseeing laboratory procedures, equipment, quality assurance, staffing, training, and the implementation of new tests, methods, instrumentation, and processes.

Job Responsibilities Direct and oversee daily laboratory operations and services. Establish and maintain laboratory quality standards, procedures, and protocols. Ensure proper performance, maintenance, service, and replacement of laboratory equipment. Manage departmental operations within the approved budget and identify opportunities for operational improvement. Monitor laboratory workload and staffing needs and make appropriate operational adjustments. Participate in quality assurance and quality control programs, proficiency testing, and regulatory compliance activities.

Oversee laboratory information systems, including identifying needs, recommending improvements, and maintaining security and confidentiality. Implement new programs, tests, methods, instrumentation, and procedures. Oversee orientation, training, continuing education, and professional development of laboratory staff. Provide leadership through employee counseling, performance management, and staff development. Maintain current professional and technical knowledge through continuing education and professional development. Lead and participate in departmental meetings, committees, projects, and process-improvement initiatives.

Collaborate with pathologists and other healthcare professionals to support accurate and timely diagnostic services. May direct and monitor the instruction and evaluation of students in medical technology and other healthcare programs

Experience:

Minimum of 5 years of laboratory experience (Required) Minimum of 3 years of laboratory supervisory or management experience (Required) Experience managing laboratory operations, staffing, quality programs, and budgets Knowledge of medical technology and laboratory management principles Strong written and verbal communication skills Education, Licensure &

Certifications:
