Overview
HECO is seeking a Quality Inspector Technician to support manufacturing and repair operations at our Wheeling, WV facility. This role is responsible for verifying that materials, components, and completed work meet established quality standards, customer requirements, and industry guidelines. The ideal candidate brings strong mechanical aptitude, a keen eye for detail, and experience working in an industrial or production environment.
Key Responsibilities- Inspect incoming materials, in-process assemblies, and finished products for compliance with quality and specification requirements
- Perform visual, dimensional, and functional inspections using tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other measuring devices
- Interpret work orders, drawings, specifications, and quality documentation
- Identify, document, and report nonconforming materials or workmanship
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and management to resolve quality issues
- Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action activities
- Maintain accurate inspection records and quality reports
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to quality, safety, and efficiency
- Comply with all safety policies and procedures
- High school diploma or GED required
- Experience in a quality inspection or quality-related role preferred
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documentation
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Mechanical aptitude with an understanding of manufacturing processes
- Experience using hand tools and inspection equipment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Background in industrial, manufacturing, machining, or repair environments
- Familiarity with ISO standards or quality management systems
- Basic computer skills for reporting and documentation
- Experience supporting corrective action and continuous improvement efforts
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs
- Comfortable working in a shop or industrial setting
