Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN with at least 2 years of surgical care and IV experience for a preoperative unit utilizing Allscripts and Epic EMR systems.
Responsibilities- Work in an acute care hospital's preoperative area known as the surgical center (not a free-standing surgical center)
- Handles all surgical procedures, including same-day and overnight cases
- Unit consists of 15 suites and manages 55–70 cases per day
- Preop care only—scrubbing not required for RNs
- Shifts consist of 4 ten-hour days from 7a-5p, with additional schedule options of 6-2, 7-3, 8-4, or 9-5
- Rotating weekend shifts includes one weekend day every four weeks and 24-hour second call during weekends on a rotating basis
- Call response time requirement is 30 minutes
- Floating may be required to the OR holding area
- Documentation is done in Allscripts with transition to Epic starting April 1
- Primary responsibilities include preoperative patient assessment and care
- OR scrubs and dress code are provided by the facility
- Orientation is provided specific to the surgical center/preop area
- Must be comfortable with high-volume, fast-paced surgical setting
- First-time travelers will be considered
- Holiday and weekend call rotation is required
- Active WV or compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room experience
- Current BLS certification
- Strong IV skills and experience with surgical care, including robotics
- Must provide an unexpired driver's license for consideration
- Epic and Allscripts charting experience preferred
- Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility
- Candidates cannot have worked at any WVU Medicine location within the past 2 years and are limited to 1 year cumulative travel assignment within WVU before a 2-year break is required
