About the TeamRaleigh General Hospital’s Women's & Children’s Services deliver comprehensive, evidence‑based care aligned with ACOG, AWHONN, and AAP standards. Our service lines include a 12‑bed Labor & Delivery unit, Postpartum, Newborn Nursery, Pediatrics, and Level I NICU. Practices such as Kangaroo Care support healthy outcomes and strong mother‑baby bonding. The department is supported by approximately 40 FTEs and a multidisciplinary provider team utilizing advanced health technology to ensure safe, coordinated care.
ResponsibilitiesThe Director of Nursing - Women's and Children’s Health provides strategic and operational leadership for all aspects of the Women's and Children’s Department. This role directs departmental activities, manages resources, and ensures the highest‑quality patient‑centered care for women, infants, and pediatric populations.
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement departmental goals, plans, and standards that meet the clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements of the organization.
- Operational Oversight: Direct and evaluate Women’s & Children’s Services, including labor & delivery, postpartum, nursery, NICU, and pediatric care. Ensure optimal patient outcomes, satisfaction, and quality performance.
- Staff & Development: Oversee hiring, orientation, evaluations, corrective actions, and continuing education. Cultivate a supportive environment that encourages professional growth and staff engagement.
- Financial Management: Prepare, monitor, and evaluate departmental budgets, ensuring compliance with allocated funding. Lead and support internal and external audits.
- Quality & Safety: Integrate evidence‑based nursing practices into protocols and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations (HIPAA, Joint Commission, and other accrediting bodies).
- Collaboration: Partner with physicians, advanced practice providers, and hospital leadership to enhance care coordination, patient experience, and service delivery.
- Other Duties: Maintain regular and reliable attendance and perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
- Recruits, mentors, and develops perioperative nursing staff, fostering a culture of teamwork and accountability.
- Oversees ongoing staff education, competency, and adherence to clinical and patient safety standards.
Schedule: This leadership position is full‑time, exempt, and beneficial.

- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Current WV RN license (or eligible for licensure).
- 5-7 years of progressive leadership experience in Women’s and Children’s Health.
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and build effective relationships with surgeons and anesthesia providers.
- Experience with budgeting, financial management, and resource allocation in surgical or acute care settings.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and implement performance‑improvement initiatives.
- BLS, ACLS, NRP certifications required (or obtained within a defined timeframe).
