Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical

Wheeling, WV

Contract | Days | 12-Hour Shifts (0645–1915) | Every-other-weekend requirement | Holiday rotation included

• Provide direct patient care on a 52-bed Medical Surgical unit with a patient ratio of 1:6–7, covering a diverse range of diagnoses including post-operative orthopedic, neurological, and general surgical patients, as well as medical diagnoses such as COPD, pneumonia, and cellulitis
• Manage and monitor IV therapy in coordination with the dedicated IV and PICC teams; assess patient IV sites and administer drips including Heparin, PCAs with MSO4, and intermittent Ativan infusions as ordered
• Operate and monitor respiratory support equipment including BiPAP (intermittent), CPAP, and High Flow oxygen in collaboration with in-house Respiratory Therapy
• Utilize the Sunrise EMR system for documentation, medication administration via Pyxis, and coordination of care with hospitalists, residents, and ancillary staff available in-house 24/7
• Support hemodialysis patients on the unit and assist with peritoneal dialysis care as needed
• Float to other Medical Surgical and Medical Surgical/Oncology units as needed; may float to IMC for Med Surg overflow (no drips when floating)

• Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license; any licensing history issues must be disclosed at time of submission
• Current BLS certification (required)
• Current NIHSS certification (required)
• Experience with Medical Surgical nursing, including post-operative and general medical patient populations
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts, every-other-weekend, and participate in holiday rotation scheduling

• Current ACLS certification
• Experience with peritoneal dialysis (highly preferred)
• Ability to read telemetry strips (remote tele monitoring utilized on unit)
• Familiarity with Sunrise EMR

• Work in a well-supported environment with in-house IV/PICC teams, Respiratory Therapy, Pharmacy, and Hospitalist and Intensivist coverage available 24/7
• Join a structured unit offering all private patient rooms, consistent scheduling made six weeks in advance, and up to six schedule-off requests per six-week period
