Position

• Position: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
• Schedule: Day Shift (Sat & Sun, 7a-3:30p) OR Evening Shift (Mon‑Thurs, 3p‑11p)
• Facility: Ohio County Correctional Center
• Location: Wheeling, WV

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) assists in delivering patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Working under the clinical guidance of Registered Nurses, the LPN directs and guides patient teaching activities, uses the medical record system, and performs other duties as assigned.

• Assist in assessment of the physical, psychological, and social dimensions of patients in the health care unit and housing units.
• Help plan and implement individual treatment programs in the health care unit and housing units, consulting with registered nurses, physicians, and correctional officers.
• Administer medications and interventions according to provider instructions.
• Document nursing encounters, patient responses, effectiveness, complications, and communicate information to supervisory personnel and physicians.
• Maintain working and living areas and supplies in good order.
• Serve as a member of the nursing care and treatment team; assist physicians as assigned.
• Utilize in‑house resource personnel and departments for treatment/consultation.
• Implement clinical and technical aspects of care per established policies and procedures.
• Takes vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure).
• Applies and changes dressings.
• Upon receiving the necessary training and/or instruction, performs other related duties as required or assigned.

• Licensure: Current, unrestricted STATE Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) License
• Certification: Current CPR Certification
• Education: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
• Preferred Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of clinical experience; correctional experience preferred
