Cardiac Step-Down (CVSD) RN

• Shift: Nights or Rotating Days/Nights
  • 6:45 AM–7:15 PM
  • 6:45 PM–7:15 AM
• Weekly Hours: 36 hrs (3x12s)
• Radius Rule: Must live 50+ miles from the facility
• Submission Requirement: Copy of unexpired driver's license required. Any licensing hits must be disclosed.

• BLS & ACLS
• Experience with:
  • Epicardial pacing
  • Chest tubes
  • Cardiac step-down/telemetry patients
• Must be comfortable titrating cardiac drips

• 22-bed Cardiac Step-Down Unit
• Patient Ratio: 1:4–6
• Charge nurse carries a full patient assignment
• IV Team performs all IV starts
• Telemetry monitored by monitor techs (RNs are not required to interpret strips)

• Bradycardia
• Atrial Fibrillation (A-fib)
• SVT
• CHF
• CAD
• NSTEMI
• PVD
• PE
• CVA/TIA
• Post-op VATS
• Lobectomy
• Wedge Resection
• Chest Tubes
• Tracheostomy (no vents)
• TAVR
• Post-op Day 1 CABG

• Titration of:
  • Cardizem
  • Amiodarone
  • Procainamide
  • Dopamine
  • Dobutamine
  • Heparin
  • Insulin (occasionally)

• Every other weekend
• Holiday rotation with permanent staff

• No call required
• Travelers float first
• Block scheduling may be considered
• Navy Blue scrubs
• No artificial nails
• Orientation includes one 12-hour shift with a preceptor
