Medical Surgical Floor Nurse position in Wheeling, West Virginia. This acute care role involves providing high-quality nursing care for patients with various conditions, including congestive heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, cellulitis, and pneumonia. The position requires a dedicated professional able to work in a fast-paced environment with a rotating day and night schedule.
Job Details- Schedule:
12-hour day/night rotating shifts, with weekends scheduled as needed, usually half of the total weekends. - Required Qualifications:
Valid BLS (American Heart Association) certification, NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) certification, minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a medical-surgical setting. License to submit is not required. - Patient Population:
Patients with congestive heart failure, COPD, cellulitis, respiratory or abdominal issues, pneumonia, urosepsis, and acute kidney injury. - Unit Notes:
The unit operates under a 50 mile radius rule. All submissions must include a copy of the candidate's unexpired driver's license. Licensing hits must be disclosed at the time of submission. - Staffing and Operational Details:
- One charge RN on the floor with assignment.
- Nurse aides are present, including PCTs.
- RN must be able to titrate heparin drips based on aptt results.
- There is no ventilator; intermittent BiPAP support is available.
- Telemetry services are monitored remotely by monitor techs.
- Transitioning to Qgenda scheduling system.
- Floating and Cancellation:
- Floating as needed based on census; external travelers are the first to float.
- No standby or call requirement.
- Cancellation policy:
Two shifts per 13-week contract.
- Charting System: EPIC.
- Additional Notes:
The unit requires navy blue scrubs. Shift notes include 12-hour day/night rotations with weekends as scheduled.
