Join a dedicated care team as an Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) in Wheeling, West Virginia, and make a meaningful impact caring for patients with complex oncology diagnoses. This on-site, 13-week travel nursing assignment is located on an acute medical-surgical oncology unit and offers the opportunity to strengthen your medical-surgical oncology expertise. Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in West Virginia
- At least 1 year of registered nursing experience, preferably in oncology or medical-surgical nursing
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Strong patient assessment, clinical judgment, communication, and patient-education skills
- Ability to provide safe, compassionate nursing care in an acute-care environment
- Willingness to work 12-hour day shifts and scheduled weekends
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients receiving treatment for oncology-related conditions
- Perform focused and comprehensive patient assessments, identify changes in patient status, and escalation concerns appropriately
- Administer medications and treatments safely while monitoring for therapeutic effects and adverse reactions
- Coordinate patient care with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapists, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team
- Support symptom management, pain control, nutritional needs, mobility, and psychosocial well-being
- Educate patients and families about treatment plans, medications, disease management, and discharge instructions
- Accurately document assessments, nursing interventions, and patient responses in Allscripts
- Follow infection-prevention, patient-safety, quality, and professional nursing standards
