Project OverviewResearch opportunity located in Kearneysville, West Virginia. The project focuses on understanding genetic and developmental aspects of reproduction in Prunus species, aiming to develop pollination‑independent fruit production, improve crop protection, and innovate cloning methods.
Learning Objectives- Investigate genetic and developmental mechanisms underlying reproduction in Prunus species.
- Identify key signaling pathways regulating floral tissue development, meiosis, pollination, and fruit formation.
- Analyze developmental and environmental triggers that influence reproductive success in perennial fruit crops.
- Design research approaches supporting pollination‑independent fruit production strategies.
- Manipulate fruit tissue development to improve crop yield and quality.
- Evaluate and develop crop protection strategies to mitigate adverse weather.
- Develop knowledge of innovative cloning and propagation methods for perennial fruit species.
