JOB SUMMARY: The plumber helps maintain all plumbing systems in county facilities, ensuring compliance with state and county building codes.
SALARY & EVALUATION: Pursuant to WV Code §18A-4-8a, salary according to Raleigh County salary scale, Pay Grade E for Plumber I and Pay Grade G for Plumber II. Evaluation annually by immediate supervisor per WV State Code §18A-2-12.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES (Plumber)- Install, maintain, and repair water and waste disposal systems.
- Receive work assignments, review needed supplies, and organize a work plan.
- Notify supervisor of unexpected problems that cannot be solved within the expected work plan.
- Measure, cut, thread, assemble, and install pipes and tubing.
- Check plumbing systems to detect leaks and eliminate leaks by replacing valves, faulty fittings, or pipe sections.
- Unstopp cooling, sewer lines, and clean grease traps.
- Install water, sanitary fixtures, and equipment with supports, hangers or foundations.
- Connect valves, caulk joints, and test finished job by allowing water to flow.
- Replace worn parts and make corrections as needed.
- Take care of tools and equipment and maintain a safe work environment.
- Control and maintain proper truck inventory of materials and supplies for repairs and replacements.
- Other duties as assigned.
High School Diploma or GED. Criminal background check pursuant to WV Code §18-5-15c. Must possess journeyman‑level plumber’s license and meet qualifications in WV Code §18A-4-8b and competency as defined in WV Code §18A-4-8e. Provider of state‑approved competency test. GENERAL MAINTENANCE (SP597)JOB SUMMARY: Personnel employed as helpers to skilled maintenance employees, performing minor repairs to equipment and buildings of a county school system.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES (General Maintenance)- Clear brush, cut grass, dig ditches, and perform other minor grounds maintenance duties.
- Shovel snow from board offices.
- Load and unload trucks, move or haul supplies, office furniture, and building materials.
- Assist in building repairs with plumbers, electricians, carpenters, etc.
- Service county automobiles (fill gasoline, check oil and wiper fluid).
- Perform routine maintenance on heating and cooling systems (change filters, check seals, duct work).
- Assist in coordinating the building maintenance program.
- Assemble furniture and equipment for proper working conditions.
- Inspect facilities, systems, and components to identify necessary repairs.
- Install items such as whiteboards, serving lines, railings, fences to complete projects safely and on time.
- Maintain tools and equipment for availability and safety.
- Respond to emergency situations to resolve immediate safety concerns.
- Perform related word as required.
- Other duties as assigned by Director of Maintenance.

Demonstrate adherence to schedules, punctuality, flexibility, courtesy, dependability, good judgment, ability to follow instructions, effective presentation of information, compliance with state and county requirements, report writing, basic math calculations, problem solving, interpreting instructions, and accurate task performance.
PHYSICALDEMANDS
The employee frequently stands, walks, uses hands, fingers, and reaches with hands and arms. May lift heavy objects, bend, twist neck and trunk. Requires close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment. Often required to stand and walk outdoors or indoors as needed with moving mechanical equipment and hazardous materials.
WORK ENVIRONMENTThe work environment includes outdoor and indoor settings, near moving mechanical equipment, and hazardous materials such as gasoline and diesel. Must meet deadlines under severe time constraints. Noise level is moderate to loud due to power tool use.
