Maintenance - FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
- Term: Minimum 252 days annually, pursuant to WV Code§18A-4-8; extended employment days may be established by HCBOE
- Salary: Pursuant to WV Code§18A-4-8a, in accordance with Hampshire County Salary Schedule, Pay Grade G; commensurate with experience and education level plus competitive benefits package equal to approximately 35% of direct compensation
- Evaluation: Performance in this position will be evaluated by the Coordinator of Services:
Maintenance and in accordance with WV State Code§18A-2-12, WV State Board Policy 5314, and HCBOE Evaluation Policy for Service Personnel - Job Summary: Pursuant to WV Code §18A-4-8: “General maintenance” means a person employed as a helper to skilled maintenance employees, and to perform minor repairs to equipment and buildings of a county school system; “Carpenter I” means a person classified as a carpenter's helper; “Carpenter II” means a person classified as a journeyman carpenter
- High School diploma or equivalent, pursuant to WV Code§18A-2-5;
- Criminal background check conducted pursuant to WV Code§18-5-15c;
- Meet the definition of "Qualifications" in WV Code§18A-4-8b;
- Demonstrate competency pursuant to WV Code§18A-4-8e as required;
- Possess experience and/or training in a maintenance related field;
- Possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license; able to do heavy, extensive lifting and manual labor;
- Hold, or be able to obtain, licensures required by state for federal agencies in the performance of the position;
- Have up-to-date first aid and CPR training;
- Demonstrate appropriate safety, hygiene and health standards
- Demonstrate safety of work area

- Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations consistent with this position
- Accurately perform assigned tasks/duties in full compliance with state and county requirements and HBOE policies
- Conduct shop operations to include receiving parts and supplies and completing work orders
- Estimate materials
- Lay, join, and point brick to include cleaning, mixing, and cutting
- Prepare foundations and footers, and perform miscellaneous masonry work
- Install rough framing, roof components, exterior finishes, interior finishes
- Maintain structures:
Hang doors, install closures, locks, panic hardware - Install doors and supporting hardware
- Maintain and secure door systems
- Install, maintain, repair, disassemble, and open locks
- Ensure keys are cut properly for all locks
- Change lock combinations
- Open broken locks
- Keep records of locks and keys
- Sharpen tools
- Use climbing equipment
- Prepare surfaces for finishing and painting
- Finish surfaces
- Load and unload trucks; move or haul such items as supplies, office furniture, and building materials
