Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm. Pay Grade G. Salary based on experience and education level per NCBOE salary schedule plus competitive benefits package equal to approximately 35% of direct compensation.

Heating and Air Conditioning Mechanic:
Personnel employed at the journeyman level to install, repair, and maintain heating and air conditioning plants and related electrical equipment.
General Maintenance Worker means a person employed as a helper to skilled maintenance employees, and to perform minor repairs to equipment and buildings of a county school system.
Qualifications- High School Diploma or General Equivalent Development Certificate (GED) per West Virginia Code §18A-2-5.
- Personnel must be or have been classified in this category or must pass the state prescribed exam(s) for this position per West Virginia Code §18A-4-8e.
- Certifications of HVAC Excellence Certification (Master Level), NATE HVAC Certification, or West Virginia Division of Labor HVAC Certification licensed as a Commercial Technician can be used in lieu of the HVAC competency test.
- Criminal background check per WV Code §18-5-15c.
- The ability to perform the job duties and responsibilities of the position as contained in the Job Description.

Performance Responsibilities:General Maintenance

- Work proficiently with computer programs and accessories as needed.
- Assist skilled maintenance workers with projects (e.g. transporting and/or securing materials, completing specific tasks, etc.) for the purpose of completing projects in a safe, efficient manner.
- Clears brush, cuts grass, digs ditches, and performs other grounds maintenance duties.
- Coordinate with skilled tradesmen and/or assigned supervisor(s) for the purpose of completing projects and work orders efficiently.
- Install system component parts, classroom and office equipment and facility components for the purpose of providing a safe and workable environment.
- Maintain assigned vehicle, tools and equipment for the purpose of ensuring availability in safe operating condition.
- Participate in meetings, workshops, trainings, and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
- Prepare written materials (e.g. repair status, activity logs, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities and/or conveying information.
- Repair furniture and building system components for the purpose of ensuring a safe working condition.
- Respond to emergency situations during and after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
- Transport a variety of tools, equipment and supplies for the purpose of ensuring the availability of materials required at the job site.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit as assigned by the superintendent and/or director of maintenance.
Heating and Air Conditioning Mechanic
- Construct a flare construction and swage joint.
- Set up and operate an oxyacetylene torch.
- Differentiate between soldering applications.
- Perform the following soldering applications: silver, soft, and brazing.
- Locate and identify high and low side components of a refrigerator system.
- Check for moisture in systems.
- Install a filter dryer with flare and sweat fittings.
- Install a liquid indicator in a liquid line.
- Place service valves in the front seat, gauge, and back seat positions.
- Analyze temperature-pressure operations.
- Pressurize a system with dry nitrogen and refrigerant and locate and repair leaks.
- Charge a system on both the high and low side.
- Check compression operation.
- Remove and replace a compressor and compressor parts in a refrigeration system.
- Replace a capillary tube and refrigerator relay.
