Welding Technician – WV Parkways Authority – Raleigh CO.

Location of position:
Beckley, WV.

Hourly wage: $17.4880 - $25.3530 per hour, based on experience in field. Eligible for overtime.

The employee will answer directly to the Fleet Manager. This classification must perform at the proficiency level in the field of welding.

Through knowledge of the skills involved, methods, materials, and equipment used in the field. The employee is responsible for leading, guiding, and training Apprentice Technicians. They will plan, layout, and supervise the work of skilled and unskilled workers.

• Welding and brazing of mild steel
• Operation of Parkways Radio
• Forms (operations daily report, work & purchase orders)
• Light torches and set gauges
• Use of diesel-powered welder
• Use of band saw
• Use of grinder
• Use of electrical welders
• Use of boom welding truck
• Use of track torch
• Use of plasma torch
• Use of aluminum/MIG welder
• Use of hydraulic system – change hydraulic hoses

• Replace hydraulic hoses
• Replace pumps
• Replace spinner wheel
• Replace auger
• Replace snow blades
• Replace caster wheels/assemblies
• Replace plow jack

• Flagging and various other duties for maintenance and upkeep of small equipment such as mowers, lawn mowers, and weed eaters.
• Any other duties as they are assigned.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• B CDL (Commercial Driver’s License).
• Ability to pass a background check.
• Completion of a form of apprenticeship and at least 3 years of experience in the welding field.
• Certification by the WV Dept. of Education of Vocational Technical Adult Education that the applicant has successfully completed the WV Welding Certification Test.
