Position Summary

Under the general supervision of the Clinical Supervisor or designee, this position works to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the children and families served. This position works closely with youth, family, foster parents, and community partners, providing counseling or therapy, advocacy, and support toward the ultimate goal of living safely and successfully in the community. Serves Ohio, Brooke, Hancock, and Marshall counties.

Location:

Wheeling, WV. Pay: $46,000 annually.

Schedule:

Office Hours are Monday‑Friday 9am-5pm, with weekend and evening flexibility needed to meet needs of persons served.

Responsibilities
  • Perform all work in a manner consistent with the National Youth Advocate Program’s mission, values, and philosophies.
  • Develop, implement, and supervise behavioral plans according to the needs of the program, staff, families, and persons served.
  • Ensure all relevant school personnel, family service counselor, foster parents or guardians and bio parents (as needed) are educated and instructed on individual behavioral plans for persons served.
  • Establish and maintain contact with relevant community and school personnel to provide accurate monitoring.
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date records of evaluations, behavioral plans, treatment plans, and progress.
  • Effectively and appropriately set limits with persons served that are appropriate to the situation.
  • Transport persons served as needed.
  • Model appropriate and professional behavior.
  • Ensure that documentation of progress notes, treatment and behavior plans, and assessments are accurate and completed in the required time.
  • Relate with persons served, foster parents, guardians, community partners, peers and the general public in a respectful and professional manner in person and phone interaction.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Social Work or comparable Human Services field from an accredited institution.
  • 2 years of work experience working in direct service with youth and families strongly preferred.
  • A valid advanced professional license preferred: LPC, LCPC, LCSW, LMFT, or LGSW, or license‑eligible.
  • A willingness to work flexible and non‑traditional hours in the service of foster caregivers, families of origin, and persons served.
  • Capacity to be flexible and responsive to youth served, foster caregivers, system partners, and internal customers.
  • Capacity to remain objective and professional in all areas of job function.
  • Demonstrates tolerance and respect for the ideas and actions of others.
  • Capacity to effectively work with and be respectful and sensitive to persons from various cultures, socioeconomic, ethnic, religious, and racial backgrounds.
  • Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smart phones and tablets, printers, fax machines and photocopiers, as well as software including word processing, spreadsheet and database programs.
Driving and Vehicle Requirements
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Reliable personal transportation
  • Good driving record
  • Minimum automobile insurance coverage of $100,000/$300,000 bodily injury liability
