The Head Coach
JOB GOALS:
To assist the Head Coach to help each participating students achieve a high level of skill, an appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship and an increased level of self-esteem.
- Appropriate valid West Virginia Teaching Certificate or Coaching Certificate
- Completion of a successful background check.
- Thorough knowledge of coaching principles and practices
- Knowledge of budgeting and financial arrangements
- Knowledge of rules and regulations as they pertain to the area being coached and ability to deal effectively with co-workers, athletes, administrators and the public.
- Any additional qualifications which may be required for a particular sports.
- Adhere to all federal, state, and district laws and policies.
- Promote and adhere to the district mission, core beliefs, academic goals, and target areas.
- Coaches, under the direction of the Head Coach, individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sports involved.
- Assist with the planning and scheduling of regular program of practice.
- Assist in overseeing the safety conditions of the facility or area in which the activity is being held.
- Assist in enforcing discipline and sportsmanlike behavior among participants in the sport activity.
- Attend Booster Club meeting as directed by the Head Coach.
- Attend all meetings arranged by the Head Coach.
- Be familiar with and follow the guidelines established in Ohio County Board of Education Regulation 4020.01.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Terms of Employment:
Length of employment term varies according to sport.
