Meet, greet, and welcome customers of WVU Medicine while manning the shuttles. The shuttle drivers must have great customer service and driving skills when operating the shuttles.

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Certification, and/or Licensure)
  • Valid Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications (Education, Certification, and/or Licensure)
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Three (3) years of driving experience with a multi‑passenger vehicle
Core

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepare the shuttle for the day's run by checking fluid and operation prior to loading the first passenger.
  • Follow all traffic laws, posted speed limits, and signals.
  • Ensure cell phone usage is only permitted when the shuttle is parked; use a hands‑free system for calls to a control center/dispatch.
  • Report all accidents, incidents, or suspicious activity immediately to the supervisor.
  • Contact the supervisor immediately if problematic situations arise.
  • Follow the designated route and the guidelines when loading and unloading passengers (e.g., 5 minutes, full shuttle or another shuttle arrives).
  • Maintain the interior and exterior of the shuttle during non‑peak hours, as required by the driver.
  • If the shuttle develops mechanical issues, document the problem and notify the supervisor immediately.
  • Communicate with other drivers upon leaving or arriving at a destination via radio.
  • Update documentation of passengers at all destinations.
  • Assist other motorists or employees with vehicle issues by notifying the Security Dispatcher immediately.
  • Operate the wheelchair lift on handicap‑equipped shuttles.
  • Physical Requirements
  • Regularly required to talk or hear in order to communicate with passengers regarding the shuttle services.
  • Continuous sitting within the shuttle is required for transportation of passengers to and from destinations.
  • Evaluation by Occupational Medicine is required upon hire or transfer to ensure medical fitness; periodic evaluation after hire is required, and any significant changes in health status must be reported.

  • Employee may be exposed to all types of weather conditions.
  • Employee may be exposed to all traffic conditions.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Ability to operate all types of automobiles and light trucks, both standard and automatic transmissions.
    • Ability to drive a 15‑passenger shuttle.
    • Excellent customer and people skills.

    Job Description
    • CPR certification required.
    • Completion of DOT physical required.
    Hours and Shift

    40 hours per week. Day shift (United States of America).

    Employment Classification

    Non‑Exempt.
