Transportation Clerk

Location:

Millwood, West Virginia, USA (on‑site).

Pay: $20 per hour.

Schedule:

Tuesday through Saturday, 11:30 AM to 8:00 PM.

Description

The Transportation Clerk supports daily transportation operations by coordinating shipment documentation, appointment scheduling, and communication between drivers, customers, and internal teams. This role ensures accurate recordkeeping, timely updates, and smooth execution of freight movement in and out of the facility.

Core responsibilities include maintaining pallet tracking, auditing driver logs and trip reports, tracking DOT requirements, coordinating driver support, tracking return goods, handling various administrative duties such as accounts payable/receivable, payroll, fuel reconciliation, office supplies, billing, database maintenance, and miscellaneous reporting.

Major Responsibilities
  • Audit logs and trip reports, maintain files, interact with customers, resolve driver equipment requests, and manage pallet tracking.
  • Maintain and distribute route books, interface daily with drivers, and assist with driver coverage for vacation and overflow freight.
  • Collaborate with Safety team as required by location.
  • Prioritize workload and adapt flexibly based on position requirements.
  • Maintain confidentiality as required.
  • Complete other projects and tasks assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
  • At least 2 years of general office experience.
  • At least 1 year of customer service experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Regular, predictable, full attendance.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, work at the specific location, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation, and undergo drug screening.

Physical Requirements

The physical and mental demands of this position include reading, communicating verbally and/or in written form, remembering and analyzing information, and understanding instructions. The associate may be required to stand, walk, and sit, use hands to touch, handle, and feel, and reach with hands and arms. The associate must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs (12 kg).

Vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
