Job Overview
Railserve, a leading provider of industrial railyard services, is hiring an experienced and safety-focused Regional Traveling Locomotive Mechanic to support locomotive maintenance operations throughout West Virginia and Ohio. This full‑time, hands‑on mechanical role requires traveling approximately 80% of the time and includes the use of company equipment and a service truck.

• Nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, and emergency callouts may be required.
$28.00 – $35.00 per hour, or more based on experience.
Responsibilites- Perform scheduled and emergency maintenance on company locomotives, including Gen-Set, SW, and GP locomotives.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical locomotive issues.
- Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and repairs.
- Communicate maintenance updates and repair statuses with customers and operations teams.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, invoices, shipping documents, preventative maintenance reports, and expense reports.
- Safely operate cutting torches and welding equipment.
- Conduct periodic equipment safety assessments and inspections.
- Assist in identifying and correcting safety hazards.
- Handle environmental materials and waste disposal according to company procedures.
- Comply with company safety policies and wear required personal protective equipment.
- Operate company-provided service truck throughout the assigned region.
- Travel between customer locations and Railserve operations as needed.
- Support additional maintenance and operational duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate degree or technical training preferred.
- Strong mechanical experience required; electrical troubleshooting experience preferred.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Ability to operate cutting torch and electrical welder.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to travel approximately 80% of the time throughout West Virginia and Ohio.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to lift, carry, and handle heavy equipment and materials.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain accurate maintenance documentation and reports.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, and emergency callouts as required.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
- Military experience is a plus.

- Overnight travel may be required based on operational needs.
