Job Description:We are seeking an experienced Garage Door Technician with significant commercial door experience to join our growing team. This role is focused primarily on commercial and industrial door installation, service, and repair.
The ideal candidate has hands-on commercial door experience, strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, and is comfortable working independently in active jobsite and facility environments.
Key Responsibilities- Commercial Door Installation:
Install commercial and industrial door systems, including rolling steel, sectional, high lift, and specialty doors. - Assemble and install tracks, torsion systems, springs, cables, safety systems, sensors, and operators.
- Read and follow manufacturer specifications, job layouts, and safety requirements.
- Service, Repair & Preventive Maintenance:
Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues on commercial door systems. - Service high cycle doors, motors, limit switches, safety devices, and control boards.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance to reduce downtime for customers.
- Electrical & Operator Systems:
Install, wire, and program commercial operators and controls. - Troubleshoot electrical components, sensors, and safety systems.
- Work with operators from leading manufacturers (Lift Master, Raynor, etc.).
- Jobsite & Customer Interaction:
Work safely in warehouses, dock areas, retail facilities, and construction sites. - Communicate clearly with customers, site managers, and dispatch regarding findings and repair solutions.
- Accurately document work performed and recommended follow-up services.
- High school diploma or GED.
- 2+ years of hands-on commercial garage door or industrial door experience.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with proven troubleshooting ability.
- Working knowledge of electrical systems and door operators.
- Ability to work independently and manage service calls efficiently.
- Ability to lift heavy materials and work in various weather and facility conditions.
- Experience with rolling steel, fire rated, dock equipment, or high cycle systems.
- IDA, DASMA, or manufacturer certifications.
- Experience working in industrial or construction environments.
- Experience operating lifts/scissor lifts (preferred but not required).
