CDC Special Education Assistant - Elementary School Job Responsibilities

• Assist the CDC special education teacher with daily classroom activities and routines.
• Provide individual and small-group support to students as directed by the teacher.
• Assist students with academic, communication, social, behavioral, and functional skills.
• Support students in following their Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and accommodations.
• Assist students with personal care and daily living skills when needed.
• Help students with transitions between classroom activities and locations.
• Provide support with classroom organization, materials, and learning activities.
• Assist with student behavior and follow classroom behavior plans as directed.
• Help maintain a safe, clean, and positive classroom environment.
• Supervise students during classroom activities, lunch, recess, arrival, dismissal, and other school activities as assigned.
• Assist students with mobility, positioning, and use of classroom equipment as needed.
• Communicate student needs and concerns to the special education teacher.
• Work cooperatively with teachers, therapists, staff, and administration.
• Maintain student confidentiality and follow school and district policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the special education teacher or school administration.
