TATEFAB is seeking an experienced Structural Steel Erection Foreman / Working Foreman to lead field crews on commercial and industrial structural steel projects throughout Tennessee and the Southeast.
The right candidate understands crane coordination, erection sequencing, structural drawings, jobsite communication, production accountability, and the importance of maintaining a safe, organized, and professional jobsite.
Typical crews range from 4–15 ironworkers depending on project scope. This position requires leadership by example.
Compensation & Schedule$85,000–$120,000+ annually depending on experience and leadership capability
Full-Time Position
Regional Travel throughout Tennessee and surrounding states required
Per Diem / Travel compensation when applicable
Company vehicle or vehicle allowance may be considered for qualified candidates
Projects may involve extended hours, weekends, and temporary out-of-town assignments depending on construction schedules. Most projects are regional with periodic return-home opportunities.

Position ResponsibilitiesSAFETY, QUALITY, and EXECUTION
Plan erection sequences and daily production activities
Coordinate daily erection activities with project supervision and crane operators
Coordinate deliveries, staging, rigging, and material flow
Verify that structural members required for each erection sequence are identified and ready for installation
Build a safe, productive, team-oriented work environment
Lead structural steel erection crews safely and efficiently
Conduct daily jobsite safety discussions and hazard awareness
Maintain production pace in accordance with project schedules ensuring quality and safety expectations are met
Maintain accountability for attendance, workmanship, organization, and crew performance
Assist with bolt-up, plumbing, welding coordination, and miscellaneous metals installation as needed
Mentor less experienced ironworkers and help develop crew capability
Field Coordination & Reporting
Complete daily progress reports
Identify field issues early and develop practical solutions to maintain workflow and schedule
Verify field layout dimensions, control lines, offsets, and elevations using optical levels, laser levels, or surveying instruments to ensure accurate member placement within specified construction tolerances
Maintain professional communication with general contractors, inspectors, and project teams
Positively represent TATEFAB to our clientele and the community
Maintain accountability for company tools, equipment, consumables, and field materials
QualificationsREQUIRED
Extensive ironworker and structural steel erection experience required
Proven leadership or crew supervision experience
OSHA 30 Certification
OSHA 1926 Subpart R Training
Valid Driver's License Required
Knowledgeable of AISC and AWS D1.1 and D1.8 Standards
Ability to Read and Interpret Design Documents and Field Erection Drawings Independently
Installation Experience with Structural Steel, Stairs, Rails, and Miscellaneous Metals
Smartphone and willingness to use digital timekeeping, reporting, and communication systems required.
Must be capable of meeting project site access, safety, and pre-employment screening requirements.
PREFERRED
Rigging & Signal person, MEWP, and Forklift Certifications
Erection Experience with Seismic-Design Criteria Projects
Proficient and Experienced Welder (FCAW/SMAW)
