Job Summary

This position is responsible för supporting the implementation of Restorative Practices, including providing direct restorative services to students, and to provide support to school staff in order to establish a safe and supportive school climate. This position is responsible for the order, structure, and management of the Restorative ISS Classroom. You will also be asked to participate on the school's crisis team and de-escalate students in crisis.

Qualifications
  • High School diploma is required
  • 2 years experience in education or related mental health field-Required
  • Training and experience working with students who exhibit challenging behaviorsRequired
  • Training and experience in implementing behavioral support plans

Essential Functions/Job Duties
  • Inform and prepare participants for restorative circles and/or dialogues
  • Contact parents/guardians to invite or inform about a restorative meeting
  • Support the facilitation of Restorative Practices along a continuum to include individual student conversations, small group circles and conferences, and small group supervision for an extended period of time
  • Provide direct supervision to small groups of students and facilitate completion of academic assignments outside the classroom setting
  • Provide participants, parents, arid appropriate staff with agreement/outcome of restorative process
  • Follow up on all restorative meetings to ensure agreements are upheld
  • Work with school staff to collaboratively work to develop improvement plans to reduce disproportionate discipline practices Identify and build relationships with school
  • Collaborate with school staff and provide support in the tiered levels within the RT12-B framework
  • * * Achieve and maintain certification in a district-approved RBT (registered behavioral technician) training program* *
  • Achieve and maintain certification in district-approved training that requires the demonstration of proper physical and verbal de-escalation techniques used during a potential crisis situation
  • Attend in-service staff development activities, and other required meetings
  • Participate in local, slate, or national staff development activities as requested
  • Stay abreast of current research and best practices in the field of Restorative Practices, SEL, and ACEs
  • Maintain appropriate documentation as determined by the supervisor
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with all pertinent federal, state, and district regulations and policies
  • Attend School Support Team Meetings, Individual Education Plan Team Meetings, and other student focused teatn Illeetings, as necessary or directed by the supervisor Be an exarnple for students

  • Report directly to the assigned Supervisor
Essential Skills
  • Knowledge of Restorative Practices
  • Knowledge of RT12-B of SEL and ACEs
  • Knowledge of de-escalation techniques and crisis management
  • Ability to work both independently and collegially with staff and students Flexible and situational awareness
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to be trained, to accept supervision from multiple sources, and to self-start Excellent time and materials management skills
  • Keen observation, listening, and interactive skills vital to the development of positive professional relationships
  • Develop a rapport with students that focuses on respect, consistency, and resilience
  • R- ISS Teacher reviews student reflections assignments. May assign additional restorative questions es follow up If necessary.
  • Restorative Interventionist must remain nonjudgmental when reviewing reflection assignments and/or having restorative conversations.
Circles
  • Students assigned to RLC paetlcipate in a morning check-in Circle or conversation where expectations are cnscussed
  • Another restorative circle or conversation with a value/c.heractec based topic Wii
    * be scheduled during the day
  • A check-out Clrcie or conversation Ehæppen at the end of the day for students to reflect on their day and discuss future behavior
  • Restorative area rnay be used for Interventionist to conduct Check-in/Check-out meetings or have restorative conversations with students that have been assigned this intervention. These students are not necessarily assigned to the RLC.
