Stat Accountant

LHH is partnering with a client in Westchester for a temporary STAT accountant with insurance and reinsurance industry experience. This is a hybrid role, 3/2.

• Prepare and file annual and quarterly financial statements under Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP) or local jurisdiction guidelines.
• Reconcile US GAAP records with statutory books and maintain balance sheet reconciliations.
• Perform risk management, and analyze and reconcile reinsurance.
• Ensure accounts comply with contracts, and maintain compliance with internal and state requirements.
• Compile supplementary filings, evaluate financial operations, and calculate Risk-Based Capital (RBC) where applicable.
• Communicate issues and trends to management, and engage with clients and internal business partners.

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business administration, and relevant experience.
• Insurance industry experience.
• Attention to detail.
• Ability to adapt to change.
• Strong communication skills.
• Proficiency in Excel.
• Knowledge of Access database or SQL.
• Experience with SAP General Ledger System.
