Staff Accountant

Location: White Plains, NY
Schedule: Full-Time | Onsite
Compensation: $60-70K

About the Role

A growing, national, multi-location organization is seeking a Staff Accountant to join its accounting team. This position offers broad exposure to the monthly close process, financial analysis, compliance activities, and operational accounting.

The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys working with large volumes of financial data, thrives in a fast-moving environment, and is eager to contribute to the efficiency and accuracy of the accounting function. This role provides the opportunity to partner closely with accounting, operations, finance, and other business units while supporting a high-growth organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analyses.
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts related to operating expenses, revenue, receivables, inventory, fixed assets, and accruals.
  • Prepare supporting schedules and documentation to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Analyze account fluctuations and investigate variances.
  • Assist with internal and external audit requests and provide supporting documentation as needed.
  • Help maintain compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.
  • Partner with operational teams to improve reporting accuracy and streamline accounting processes.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives aimed at increasing efficiency and reducing manual work.
  • Prepare ad hoc financial reports, analyses, and management reporting packages.
  • Support requests from external agencies and regulatory bodies when required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting concepts.
  • Experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close activities.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work across departments.
  • Experience in retail, consumer services, multi-location operations, or other high-volume transaction environments is highly desirable.
