Accounting Clerk

Description We are looking for an Accounting Clerk to support day-to-day financial operations for a retail organization in White Plains, New York. This is a Long-term Contract opportunity for someone who is comfortable handling high-volume accounting tasks, solving routine payment issues, and keeping records accurate. The ideal candidate brings strong Excel capability, sound reconciliation experience, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

- Reconcile account statements and investigate variances to ensure financial records are complete and accurate.

- Process account-related uploads and maintain organized financial data across accounting records.

- Review invoices, discounts, and payment details to support timely and accurate transaction processing.

- Enter and validate accounting information with a high degree of accuracy while meeting daily deadlines.

- Assist with accounts payable activities, including matching documentation and resolving routine discrepancies.

- Use advanced Excel functions to analyze data, prepare reports, and support ongoing accounting operations.

- Manage multiple assignments at once and adjust priorities as business needs change.

- Identify practical solutions to exceptions or process issues by applying sound judgment and attention to detail. Requirements - Advanced Excel skills are required, and successful completion of an Excel assessment is mandatory.

- Experience with account reconciliation in a detail-oriented accounting environment.

- Background in accounts payable, invoice processing, and accurate data entry.

- Ability to work with discounts, payments, and related transactional details.

- Proven ability to multitask effectively and stay organized in a fast-paced setting.

- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach.

- Previous accounting experience beyond entry level is strongly preferred.
