High School Social Studies Teacher

The White Plains City School District is seeking a passionate, skilled, and culturally responsive high school Social Studies teacher for a probationary appointment. We are especially interested in candidates who bring a deep commitment to equity, community engagement, and excellence in teaching students from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds.

• Preferred:ENL certification and/or bilingual extension in Spanish
• Demonstrated experience teaching high school students, especially in diverse classrooms
• Strong understanding of best practices for ENL students and culturally responsive pedagogy
• Commitment to student-centered, inquiry-based instruction
• Experience fostering civic engagement, critical thinking, and global awareness in students
• Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, families, and the wider school community
• Strong organizational, communication, and classroom management skills
• Desire to contribute to a supportive, inclusive, and dynamic school culture

• Deliver high-quality Social Studies instruction aligned with state standards and school curriculum
• Adapt instruction to meet the needs of all learners, including ENL and bilingual students
• Promote an inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued and supported
• Engage with families and the community to strengthen student learning and school culture
• Participate in professional learning communities and ongoing professional development
• Support school-wide initiatives around equity, civic engagement, and student achievement
