Lower School Part-Time Music Teacher

To Begin August 2026

The Leffell School is a cutting‑edge K–12 Jewish independent school serving more than 850 students on two campuses in Westchester County, NY, 30 minutes north of New York City. We are seeking a Part time Lower School Music Teacher, who will also provide small group instructional lessons and lead ensemble rehearsals for 5th grade students, to begin in August 2026 for the  school year.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and energetic Part‑Time General Music Teacher who will engage and inspire students, plan age‑appropriate lessons and unit goals that develop musicianship, ensemble skills, music literacy, and a lifelong love of music. This is an academic‑year, part‑time position (2 or 3 days per week with a consistent weekly schedule; specific days negotiable).

• Provide small‑group instrumental lessons and lead ensemble rehearsals for 5th‑grade students
• The teacher will organize and teach small‑group instrumental lessons and rehearsals aligned with their area of specialty
• Oversees special school assemblies and evening programs featuring several performance groups
• Ability to plan sequential, age‑appropriate music units that build musicianship and music literacy
• Demonstrated classroom management skills and a positive, encouraging teaching style

• Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Performance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
• Experience teaching upper elementary students in general music classroom settings
